Local Interest

Hemsted forest skirts the outside of the village which makes for lovely leisurely walks, bicycle rides and horse-riding. There is also Hempsted Equestrian Centre for hacking out in the forest (more information on request).

There are many miles of footpaths and bridleways just a stone's throw from the house and it is possible to take a 2/3 hr 5/6miles walk on footpaths or quiet country lanes, passing a few pubs on route!!!

For all golfing lovers there are numerous golf courses nearby including Chart Hills, Rye and many coastal courses.

There are numerous vineyards nearby to visit including Biddenden vineyard and cider maker, Chapel Down, Hush Heath, Gusbourne and Seddlesombe Organic to name but a few.

Historic market towns of Cranbrook and Tenterden are within a short 10 minute drive providing shopping and museums.

The beautiful coastline and smugglers market town of Rye and Hastings are a 20/30 minute drive away and play host to antique & books shops.

There is a sandy beach at Camber and pebble beach at Winchelsea again a 20/30 minute drive aware and there is also Rye Harbour nature reserve. 

Kent & East Sussex Railway, a nostalgic way to take in the local countryside and indeed Bodiam Castle.

Local Farmers Markets in nearby Rolvenden village (Thursday am) and Tenterden town (Friday am).
